A one-woman storytelling performance
What if your very existence is the result of countless acts of courage—crossings made under oppression, love sustained against the odds, and lives stitched together by fate, loss, and resilience?
Entangled Roots is an intimate storytelling performance in which Senem Donatan Mohan weaves the stories of her ancestors—forced to migrate from the Balkans to Türkiye—into a living tapestry of memory and belonging.
Through two ancestral stories—one of the father of her maternal grandmother, and one of the mother of her maternal grandfather— we witness how separate lives, shaped by displacement and devotion, eventually intertwine.
You are invited to listen—not only with your ears,
but with your own roots.
Who is this show for?
Entangled Roots speaks to anyone who has ever wondered:
- What did my ancestors endure so I could stand here today?
- How do we honour those who came before us?
- What stories live in our blood, waiting to be told?
- How can I navigate belonging between cultures?
